If you are cooking soup or stew, then you can go up to almost 2/3 full, which means that you can cook about 3 quarts. That's quite a bit of food. <BR/><BR/>If I want to make more, then I use my 6- or 8-quart cookers. It does seem strange to use such a small pot but it works, especially when doing lots of vegetables, but nothing that expands a lot - the legumes and some grains like barley or wild rice. <BR/><BR/>I hope that I can give you the confidence to try it. This is true of the new-style cookers, not the older ones with the jiggle top. I know in my head that there are safety valves, but my feelings tell me to be careful.
